Best cosmetics for 2020

As we ease back into a school routine or adapt to new office protocols, looking our best does wonders for self-esteem and productivity. In this post, I feature 5 makeup products for Fall 2020, with cosmetics that do double-duty, new must-try products, and fabulous beauty bestsellers I’m revisiting this season. Try a few, and face your peers in person or on-camera with confidence.

Tart Tarteist Contour Volume III

This limited-edition palette was gifted to me this summer and I’ve been loving it! With two contour colors, a bronzer, blush, glow and highlight, it’s a great palette for many skin tones and contouring preferences alike. The shades featured in Tarteist Contour Volume III can be used not only as contouring cosmetics, but alone on eyes and cheeks, too. The generous mirror and beautiful packaging make this a new favorite item to throw in my tote. Lucky for you, it’s on sale.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil

This tiny little pencil is the perfect tool for filling in sparse brows without looking overdone. And while fuller brows may take some time and patience to master, they’re the secret to adding vitality to your face and framing your eyes. If you’re a cooler complexion, NYX Micro Brow Pencil comes in often hard-to-find ashier tones. Fluff with the spoolie end, then fake what your mamma didn’t make. Finish with light powder and a setting pomade and poof: perfect brows!

Glossier Boy Brow

Let’s face it, as if brows weren’t THE facial feature of the past few years, covering half our face in public just reestablishes that great brows are a must for looking pulled-together. Glossier has a cult following for a reason: their cosmetics work! I’ve tried a few brow pomades, but Glossier’s long-wearing Boy Brow formula, color options, easy-grooming brush and minimalist packaging tick all the boxes for me. This pomade, used with pencil and powder for thinner eyebrows or on its own for those blessed with a fuller set, consistently delivers a natural yet groomed look while adding fullness and depth.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye

Full disclosure: of all cosmetics, I am not a fan of foundation, and very rarely wear it. I have freckles, and most foundations just erase them no matter how I try to apply with a light hand, or dilute with my favorite face oils or serums. The solution for me (and for many devotees) is using cosmetics which can be applied on just the trouble areas. Bye Bye Under Eye works under the eyes, but also as a spot-corrector on blemishes. Dilute the thick cream with serum or primer to even out red areas, too. Used this way, a travel-sized tube of this product goes a long way. Bonus: its water resistant formula is great for those last summer beach or pool days and rainy days to come.

FENTY BEAUTY Pro Kiss’r Lip Balm

If you’re looking to try brand-new cosmetics this month, head on over to FENTY. Not only are recently-launched FENTY Skin products flying off the shelves, new brow and lip cosmetics are coming out this week! I’m thinking this moisturizing Pro Kiss’r Lip Balm is going to have to make its way into my cart. The pretty shade above is Pinch Me - but you might want to try more than one.
